MEDICINE DEPARTMENT OF OPHTHALMOLOGY

OUR PRIVATE POLYCLINIC UNITS

A high level of service is provided to all our patients who apply to our eye diseases outpatient clinic with the help of the most modern technologies we use. In our general polyclinic rooms, examinations are performed and medical treatments are provided with the latest technology autorefractokeratometer and air puff tonometer, slit lamp biomicroscope and wireless indirect ophthalmoscope, phoropter and phocometer devices. Cases in need of surgical treatment are evaluated in the presence of specialist physicians and surgical referrals are made. The number of surgeries performed in our clinic, which provides outpatient services to an average of 500 patients per day, is 6500 on average, and 7200 intraocular injections are performed on average annually. If a definite indication is made for cataract surgery, which is one of the most frequently performed surgeries in all eye clinics, as a result of detailed examinations of the patients, the most modern technologies can be provided with optical and ultrasonographic biometric devices and corneal topographic examinations in our clinic. As a result of the measurements made in these patients, single-focus, multifocal or trifocal (intelligent intraocular lens) and astigmatic corrected (toric) intraocular lens applications can be performed in the operating room using the latest technology, microscopic digital imaging systems called Verion image guided system, and in the light of these modern technologies. In addition to cataract surgery, patients can be offered serious refractive correction opportunities.

In our clinic, apart from the general ophthalmology outpatient clinic, glaucoma, cornea and contact lens, retina and uvea diseases, pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus, neuro-ophthalmology, oculoplasty and outpatient clinics for low vision help are provided.

GLAUCOMA UNIT

Diagnosis, follow-up and treatment services can be provided in glaucoma/eye pressure patients using the latest technological methods. For the diagnosis of glaucoma, computerized visual field, optic nerve head analysis with optical coherence tomography, corneal thickness analyzes are performed. Laser treatments for glaucoma (laser iridotomy, laser iridoplasty, laser cyclophotocoagulation) are performed, and also trabeculectomy, non-penetrating glaucoma operations, micro-shunt surgeries, seton implant surgeries such as Ahmet-valv are performed as glaucoma surgeries. In particular, surgical treatment of congenital/congenital glaucoma patients and aphakic glaucoma patients that can be seen after congenital cataracts are performed.

CORNEA / CONTACT LENS – REFRACTIVE SURGERY UNIT

Diagnosis, medical treatment and surgical interventions of diseases specific to the corneal tissue forming the front surface of the eye are performed.

In addition to the biomicroscopic examination performed in our unit, 3D corneal mapping with corneal tomography (Pentacam), structural examination with anterior segment optical coherence tomography (Visante-OCT), endothelial cell analysis with specular microscopy, and anterior segment photography devices are actively used. The unit provides service to an average of 500 patients per month.

Our Cornea Bank is one of the 3 most active corneal banks in the Aegean Region, and cornea transplant operations are performed approximately every week. Among the corneal transplant surgeries, there are full-thickness (penetrating keratoplasty), lamellar (deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty, DALK and Descemet’s membrane endothelial keratoplasty, DMEK) and artificial corneal (Boston keratoprosthesis) surgeries for struggling eyes that do not have a chance to transplant from a living donor. These surgeries can also be performed in a co-session with glaucoma or vitreoretinal surgeries as a result of coordination between our units, depending on the need.

Special soft / hard / hybrid keratoconus applications, intracorneal ring implantations, cross-linking surgeries are performed in cases of progressive disease for Keratoconus patients who are followed intensively in our unit. As a last resort to improve vision, corneal transplantation options are also applied in keratoconus patients.

In terms of corneal involvement of rheumatological / immunological / dermatological diseases, patient follow-up and treatment are carried out in coordination with other departments.

RETINA UNIT

Our clinic is one of the leading clinics in our country for retinal diseases. The medical device park of our unit, which can serve an average of 220 retinal patients on a daily basis, is constantly renewed in the most modern way. Currently, in addition to 3 optical coherence tomography (OCT) devices, Spectralis wide-angle fluorescein/indocyanine green angiography device, Swept Source OCT angiography device with the latest technology, which enables eye angiography without the need for invasive procedures such as vascular access to the patient, is for yellow spot patients. There is a color fundus camera that can also measure the optical density of the macula, the latest technology biomicroscope and wireless indirect ophthalmoscope devices, and two modern ocular ultrasonography devices. In our clinic, all the medical treatments mentioned in the latest medical literature can be applied, as well as laser treatment with argon laser device, photodynamic therapy applications with cold laser device, and modern Pattern yellow laser device and sub-threshold laser applications, which have been added to our clinical inventory within the last 3 months, in necessary cases. treatments are feasible.

Our clinic, which makes an average of 150 intraocular drug injections per week, is one of the most prominent clinics in our country in this regard. Age-related macular degeneration (yellow spot disease), diabetic retinopathy due to diabetes, eye vascular occlusions (retinal artery or vein occlusion), choroid or retinal diseases due to hematological diseases, choroidal tumors secondary to primary or oncological diseases, all retinal tumors Medical and surgical treatments of choroidal and choroidal diseases can be successfully applied in our clinic.

In addition to surgical procedures such as retinal rupture, retinal detachment, intraocular hemorrhages, lens shift or falling into the eye, intraocular foreign bodies as a result of trauma and endophthalmitis, modern macular surgeries such as epiretinal membrane and macular hole have been performed in our clinic for many years and successfully being done. The operating microscopes and imaging systems used in the latest technology for these surgeries, two vitrectomy devices and endolaser systems are among the most important advantages of our clinic. Our clinic will continue to lead the way in modern retinal surgery in our country, with microscope and surgical imaging systems that offer posterior segment surgery using three-dimensional glasses, which have been newly introduced abroad under the name of ‘3D Heads Up Surgery’ and entered the inventory of our clinic within the last month.

Also, medical and surgical treatments of all pediatric retinal diseases that can be seen in infancy or childhood, including diagnosis, follow-up, laser or vitrectomy and surgical treatments for retinopathy of prematurity, which are very rarely applied in our country, have been successfully performed in recent years, and therefore, patients from all regions of our country have been successfully treated in our unit.

UVEA – BEHÇET UNIT

In our unit, diagnosis, follow-up and treatment services can be provided to patients with anterior, middle, posterior or pan-uveitis with the most modern devices. In terms of uvea involvement of rheumatological and immunological, hematological, neurological and dermatological diseases such as Behçet’s disease, which is especially common in our country, patient follow-up and treatment are carried out in coordination with other departments. Topical and systemic medical drug treatments are planned as a result of detailed examinations of uveitis patients in adult and childhood age group, and surgical treatments can be applied to the necessary patients with the most modern technological facilities in our clinic.

PEDIATRIC OPHTHALMOLOGY AND STRAISY UNIT

Our unit is one of the few pediatric ophthalmology units that was first established in our country and continued to follow up patients intensively since its establishment. Infancy and childhood eye diseases, diagnosis and follow-up of eye problems of preterm infants, evaluation and follow-up of eye diseases accompanying systemic metabolic, syndromic and congenital pathologies are worked in coordination with relevant pediatric clinics and patient follow-up is carried out. Medical and surgical treatments of congenital eyelid and lacrimal system (tear duct) diseases, diagnosis, follow-up and treatment of patients with amblyopia, surgical treatment of congenital cataract patients with the latest technological methods, and subsequent visual rehabilitation with glasses or contact lenses. Due to the success of our unit, patient referrals are received from all regions of our country. At the same time, very good aesthetic and functional results can be obtained even in the most difficult cases with the diagnosis and follow-up of strabismus patients, eyeglasses and closure treatments, if necessary, botox treatments to be applied to the muscles or strabismus surgery applications. Also, a multidisciplinary approach can be provided by evaluating these patients in coordination with other clinics, if necessary, and this situation increases the outcome and success, and our strabismus unit is preferred for cases with additional systemic disease.

NEUROOPHTALMOLOGY – OCULOPLASTY UNIT

In the Neuroophthalmology unit of our department, patients with eye involvement due to neurological and other systemic diseases are evaluated, and patient follow-up and treatment are carried out in coordination with other departments. In addition to neurological diseases, the diagnosis, follow-up and, if necessary, medical or surgical treatment of eye problems of patients who have undergone neurosurgery for various reasons are planned.

In our oculoplasty unit, eyelid turning in or out (entropion or ectropion), eyelid drooping (ptosis), skin and subcutaneous tumors in the area around the eyes, tumors located in the orbit, age-related upper and lower eyelid drooping, traumatic or eye Apart from the treatment of fractures in the bone roof around the eyes, such as aesthetic problems due to skin tumors around the eyes, blow-out fractures, eye prosthesis applications are performed.
