PHYSICAL MEDICINE AND REHABILITATION

Physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) is a specialty that deals with the evaluation and treatment of patients with neuro-musculo-skeletal diseases, pain and/or disability. Physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions that cause pain and disability by leading and coordinating a team consisting of physiotherapists, physiotherapy technicians, nurses and other health professionals.

The PM&R Department of Dokuz Eylul University Hospital is empowered by an outstanding, nationally recognized and specialized team and is actively engaged in providing high quality clinical care, education and research in the field of PM&R. Our team may offer treatment options that include medical management, joint and soft tissue injections, physical modalities, exercise treatment, and prescription for orthotics, prosthetics, and assistive devices. Physicians in our department utilize a multidisciplinary approach, and work closely with various medical specialties such as orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, neurologists, etc. In certain subspecialties, patients are evaluated and followed up regularly in joint council meetings which treatment options are discussed in order to maximize the health, function and quality of life of the patients.
