Dermatology

The services provided in Dokuz Eylul University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Dermatology, Medical Aesthetics and Cosmetics Research and Application Unit are as follows.

Minimally invasive applications

  1. Neurotoxin applications

* For wrinkles in all areas of the face, mesobotox, chewing muscle (masseter/temporal), gummy smile, bunny lines of the nose and for the treatment of hyperhidrosis (axillary, palmar and plantar, facial and scalp).

Info: In the field of medical aesthetics and cosmetics, neurotoxin application is made using Botulinum toxin (BT), which is produced by Clostridium botulinum, a gram (+) anaerobic bacterium. BT was approved by the FDA in 2002 as a temporary treatment for adults aged 18-65 years with moderate to severe dynamic glabellar frown lines. It was also approved by the FDA in 2004 for the temporary treatment of primary axillary hyperhidrosis.

  1. Synthetic filling applications

* Moisture (youth) vaccine, under-eye light filler, lip fillers, nasolabial fillers, cheekbone fillers, cheek fillers, nose fillers, and chin fillers.

Info: During the natural aging process of the skin, there is a decrease in subcutaneous adipose tissue and dermal support tissue, and thus the skin becomes thinner and loses its elasticity; cheeks and lips begin to lose their fullness; deep wrinkles appear; and nasolabial folds become less prominent. Filler injections are the process of placing various fillers into the dermis. The injected material creates volume in the dermis, allowing lines and wrinkles to become superficial. It is an ideal treatment for static wrinkles on the skin. These substances can be used not only for the removal of wrinkles, but also for the correction of some dermal depressions, scars caused by trauma, facial contours and moisturizing the skin.

  1. Rope Face Hanger (French Hanger)

* Dynamic hanger, permanent hanger, spider web aesthetics, eyebrow thread lift, thread nose lift.

Info: Rope hanger is the elimination of sagging, loosening and wrinkles by stretching the skin with threads made of non-polyester silicone material and biologically compatible with the human body. It is a method that can be applied for treatment purposes for people who do not want to undergo surgical procedures, who are not satisfied with their facial features, for sagging in the postpartum abdomen and even for patients who have had partial facial paralysis.

  1. Mesotherapy applications

 * Mesolifting, hair mesotherapy, facial mesotherapy, body mesotherapy.

Info: Mesotherapy is the process of applying very small drug doses to the problematic skin and body areas by intracutaneous or subcutaneous injections. The drugs used are often natural plant extracts, homeopathic agents, vitamins, minerals and pharmaceuticals. The most important advantage of this minimally invasive procedure is that it provides the opportunity to treat with small doses of drugs, thus protecting the systemic side effects of drugs. Mesotherapy method is frequently used in cosmetic dermatology and the most important areas of use are regional slimming-lipolysis, skin rejuvenation, hair loss and cellulite treatment.

  1. Stem Cells Applications in Regenerative Medicine and Disease Therapeutics

Info: Mesenchymal stem cells are multipotent progenitor cells with self-renewal and differentiation potential. They can transform into various cells with the appropriate environment, growth factors and cytokines. In addition, they can exert immune regulatory and anti-inflammatory effects through the signal molecules they secrete. Dermatology is one of the branches at the forefront of stem cell biology and cellular therapies. Mesenchymal stem cell applications have been found to be effective in wound healing, chronic diseases and some hereditary diseases of the skin.

  1. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) applications

Info: PRP is an autologous blood product obtained by centrifuging patients’ own venous blood. The use of PRP in dermatology has extended from the treatment of chronic ulcers to cosmetic procedures. PRP contains a high platelet concentration and hyperphysiological amounts of growth factors. In recent years, it has been used in many different indications with increasing frequency in cosmetic dermatology. It has many advantages in terms of being tolerable at a high level, ease of application, relatively long effect, safe treatment process, and biological stimulation of new and natural collagen production. One of the most important advantages of the method is that it is obtained from the patient’s own blood and the risk of allergy is at the lowest level. Since it is autologous, it is accepted that there is no risk of rejection. It is also safe in terms of possible infections (Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Syphilis, HIV etc.) if attention is paid to the usual surgical procedures.

  1. Chemical peeling

Info: Chemical peeling is an application method that aims to create controlled damage to the skin at various depths and to reveal a healthy skin by applying one or more chemical agents to the skin. The aim is to cause damage to the desired depth in the skin layers and to treat various lesions by taking advantage of wound healing during regeneration. For superficial peeling, trichloroacetic acid (TCA) 10-25%, Jessner’s solution, alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), salicylic acid and tretinoin solution can be used. For medium and deep chemical peeling; a combination of 35-50% TCA, Jessner’s solution and 35% TCA, a combination of 70% glycolic acid and 35% TCA, or 88% phenol can be used. The most common usage areas are photoaging, actinic keratosis, pigmentary dyschromia, senile lentigo, acne, acne scars and seborrheic keratosis treatments.

  1. Hair transplantation with the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) and Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT) methods

 Info: The two most well-known techniques in hair transplantation are FUT and FUE techniques. In hair transplantation using the FUT technique, the hair follicles to be transplanted are cut from the donor area together with the skin after local anesthesia is applied. In the FUE technique, which has been used more frequently since 2002, single, double and triple hair follicles (grafts) are taken using 0.8 mm punches from the neck (which can also be taken from the back, legs or chest areas) using local anesthesia. The process is completed by placing the hair follicles separated from the tissue pieces on them with the help of special techniques, into the channels opened in the transplantation area with the help of lateral slits.

  1. Dermabrasion

Info: Dermabrasion is the process of sanding or abrading the upper layer of the skin in a controlled manner. In order to remove the traces on the skin, the skin is peeled by mechanically shaving with the help of rotating emery tips connected to a special motor.

  1. Dermaroller

Info: Dermaroller is a cylindrical device with 200 needles made of pure titanium material, and micro channels are opened in the dermis by means of needles by moving it over the skin surface. During wound healing after controlled damage, the production of collagen and elastin fibers is increased. In addition, with the help of these opened channels, the absorption of the cosmetics and serums used is increased from 3% to 400%.

  1. Dermapen

Info: Dermapen is a method that aims to stimulate the superficial layer of the skin, trigger collagen and elastin production, and eliminate cosmetic problems with the help of a pen-shaped device with micro needles.

  1. Energy-based device applications

* Laser hair removal

* Treatment of vascular lesions

* Treatment of varicose veins

* Rosacea treatment

* Spot Treatment

* Skin Rejuvenation

* Treatment of Acne Scars

* Subcutaneous Tightening

* Skin Resurfacing with Gold Needle Radiofrequency

* Skin Resurfacing with Lasers

* Non-Surgical Facial Rejuvenation

  1. Skin care

Info: The device, which works with the vacuum method and cleans the skin deeply, is completely painless as it does not contain injections or similar methods. By peeling the skin at a microscopic level, it removes all dead cells, excess oil and blackheads that accumulate and cause the pores to close. It helps the skin to look healthier, brighter, beautiful and younger without harming the skin.
